In a recent interview with GQ Hype, Kylian Mbappe discussed his new position as France’s captain and life at PSG following the departures of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
The 25-year-old was given the starting armband for the national team in March 2023 following the announcement of Hugo Lloris’ international retirement.
Mbappe will captain his team this summer at the 2024 European Championship, where he hopes to win the competition for the first time in his professional career.
Before the competition, Mbappe spoke with GQ Hype and stated, “We’re one of the most eagerly anticipated teams at this tournament and we’re ready and confident.” Our goal now is to win, and we qualified extremely well.
“The group hasn’t been affected even though we lost some great champions this year, some very important players like Hugo [Lloris] and Raphaël [Varane].” That exhibits genuine unity and flexibility.
Before captaining his country’s squad in a competition for the first time in his career, Mbappe considered his place on the team.

In the same interview, Mbappe discussed his personal affairs back home and the adjustments made to PSG’s roster following the departures of Neymar and Lionel Messi.
During the last summer transfer window, World Cup winner Messi moved to MLS team Inter Miami, while Neymar moved to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
“This summer, many great players who have shaped the history of football left Europe, and we are entering a new era,” Mbappe said in his explanation.
“It’s now a part of this sport’s cycle, and eventually it will be my time to quit.” I don’t find these adjustments concerning. All I’m thinking about is going to pursue my route and continuing my career.
