Ariana Grande surprised young survivors of the Manchester terror attack with gifts on Friday.

The US popstar, 23, was photographed on social media hugging and chatting to youngsters at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital ward, with one father left in tears.

During her visit, Ariana met eight-year-old Lily Harrison, who was hospitalised after suffering a shrapnel wound in the terror attack.

Kneeling by the young girl’s hospital bed, the singer said: “I’m so proud of you. You are so strong. You are doing really well.”

Earlier on Friday a brave Ariana touched down in London ahead of the One Love benefit gig which will take place on Sunday.

The 23-year-old popstar looked in much better spirits compared to last week, when she was pictured arriving home in Florida looking visibly upset as her boyfriend Mac Miller greeted her with a kiss.

Once again, she was joined by Mac and her mum Joan Grande, and this time her dad Edward Butera was thought to be accompanying them on their flight to London.

The star wore a white hoodie and grey leggings as she walked down the steps of her private jet clutching two pieces of hand luggage, with an oversized pink sports bag slung off her shoulder.

Ariana, 23, will headline the show at the Emirates Old Trafford this Sunday, which aims to raise millions for those injured and bereaved by the suicide bomb with a line-up including Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, One Direction star Niall Horan, Take That and Usher.

The Black Eyed Peas, Little Mix and Robbie Williams have also joined the line-up.

The singer previously said the atrocity in Manchester has left her “broken”.

But she vowed to return to the “incredibly brave” city of Manchester to play a benefit concert for the victims of the arena attack.

Some 500 million people are expected to tune in to live coverage of the gig being broadcast across five continents – in countries including China, US, Iraq and Afghanistan.

BBC1 coverage, from 6.55pm to 10pm, will be presented by Sara Cox and Ore Oduba , with Nick Grimshaw and Anita Rani hosting from backstage and in the crowd.

Bob Shennan, Director of Radio and Music, said: “The concert will be a special occasion that resonates throughout Manchester, around the UK and across the globe.”

All net ticket proceeds go to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. Culture Secretary Karen Bradley announced the 20% VAT on tickets will be waived to maximise funds.
