Patrick Mahomes will ‘take over’ for the Chiefs against Buffalo Bills, insists Richard Sherman as he backs the Super Bowl winners to emerge victorious on the road on Sunday night

With the Kansas City Chiefs slated to face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, retired corner back Richard Sherman is confident that Patrick Mahomes will lead the Chiefs to victory.

On Tuesday, Sherman appeared on FS1’s Undisputed and insisted that the outcome depends on Mahomes winning the quarterback duel with Josh Allen.

‘Until Josh Allen can slay the Patrick Mahomes beast in the playoffs, I gotta go with [the] Kansas City Chiefs,’ Sherman declared.

The NFL analyst went on to praise Mahomes’ ability to take over challenging games. And with the Chiefs playing on the road, Sherman believes that Mahomes will put on a showcase, as he has done in the past, to help them advance.

‘Anytime I bet against Kansas City in a game like this, Patrick Mahomes goes, he takes over,’ Sherman added.

Richard Sherman insists that Patrick Mahomes will ‘take over’ against Buffalo on Sunday night

Mahomes and the Chiefs are up 2-0 against the Bills and quarterback Josh Allen in the playoffs

Mahomes completed 23 of 41 attempts for 262 yards and a touchdown in a win over Miami

Allen made 21 of 30 attempts for 203 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Pittsburgh

Despite downing Mahomes three times in the regular season, Allen may need the third time to be a charm while 0-2 against him in the playoffs.

Sherman pointed out how Mahomes’ track record in the postseason, along with the Chiefs’ relentless defense, may prove challenging for Buffalo.

‘There’s only two people who have ever sent Patrick Mahomes home with a loss in the playoffs,’ he said. ‘That’s Tom Brady, who’s done it twice, and Joe Burrow. And by the way, outside the Super Bowls, this is Mahomes’ first road playoff game. That’s pretty insane.’

‘This defense that they have. L’Jarius Sneed, he’ll be on Stefon Diggs. I think they have the pieces. I just know.’

The Chiefs will enter Sunday’s game after a one-sided, 26-7, beating over the Miami Dolphins in the wild card round.

Mahomes completed 23 of 41 attempts for 262 yards and a touchdown without an interception.

Meanwhile, the Bills took down the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday with a 31-17 win at home.

Allen impressively completed 21 of 30 attempts for 203 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions.

The Chiefs and Bills will kickoff at 6:30 P.M. ET on Sunday in Buffalo.
