Billie Eilish said she “can’t compete with them” after receiving negative comments about her wearing a bikini in a clip posted on her Instagram account.
The 18-year-old singer shared a short clip from her vacation in Hawaii earlier this year. She shared that she received a storm of malicious comments about that clip.

In an interview with Dazed magazine , she said: “It has become a trend. There are a lot of comments like ‘I don’t like her any more because as soon as she turns 18, she became flirtatious’. I couldn’t win, I couldn’t compete with them.”
Eilish also recalled a time when she was similarly criticized for wearing a tight tank top: “I read comments like ‘How can she say she doesn’t want to be seen as inappropriate in public? when she dresses like that?’ I could absolutely get hate if I wore a dress or something like that.”
In an interview with BBC, she said she stopped reading comments on her personal page because it seemed to ruin her life.
Her brother, musician Finneas O’Connell, who is always by her side to help and encourage Billie, also shared: “When you criticize celebrities, you think that what you say doesn’t have enough impact.” to them. But the truth is, everyone is equal on the Internet.”
In early March, she also shared a 30-second video expressing her thoughts on the issue of body-shaming: “I never want the world to know everything about me. That’s why Why do I always wear baggy clothes? You know the world can’t judge your body if they can’t see it.”
