Margot Robbie may be a modern girl living in New York City, but a vintage dress and pin curls swiftly transformed her into a 1960s siren today.

The 21-year-old actress morphed from classic city chic to elegant air hostess this morning in Manhattan as she headed to work on her ABC drama, Pan Am.

The Australian starlet wore skinny blue jeans tucked into brown boots and a striped black and white sweater as she headed to the set.

Her blonde locks were tucked into curlers in order to give her the perfect ’60s hairdo.

She made a quick change into a demure, knee-length pink dress when she reached her destination, though it was clear she had some downtime until her scenes filmed.

Her hair rollers may have been taken out, but she wore comfortable Ugg boots on set instead of the heels a 60s-era flight attendant would wear.

She continued to carry a fortifying cup of iced coffee and her script throughout the morning.

The former Neighbours star plays Laura on the drama, a new arrival who annoys the other hostesses by appearing on the cover of Life magazine as the face of Pan Am.

The series, which centres on the iconic airline Pan Am Airways, has not yet been picked up for a full season.

In fact, reviews are so poor for the show that it may follow in the footsteps of other recently cancelled throwback series like The Playboy Club and Charlie’s Angels.

Recent reviews have praised the show for its style but have dismissed its content.
