Even though the group is still in mandatory military service, Jimin BTS is still sweeping music charts around the world.

Specifically,  Jimin BTS ‘s new single  – Closer Than This – won No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart (best-selling songs released online), with 14,000 copies sold (according to Luminate).

Previously, in less than a day since its release on the afternoon of December 22, 2023, Closer Than This also quickly climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes charts in no less than 90 countries and territories. territories, including the United States, Japan, Germany, France… (as of 10:00 a.m. December 23, 2023).

The song Closer Than This can be considered Jimin’s goodbye to listeners, before he leaves to  participate in  mandatory military service . According to the management company, Jimin and the BTS members will reunite in 2025.

Closer Than This marks the fifth time Jimin has reached No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart (individual activities only).

The first time Jimin led this chart was in 2023, with the hit Set Me Free Pt. 2. Since then, Jimin has continuously reached the peak with Like crazy, Angel Pt 1 and now Closer Than This.

So Jimin has equaled the record of the youngest member of BTS –  Jung Kook  – when the male singer also achieved the same achievement with the hit song ” Too Much ” in collaboration with The Kid Laroi and Central Cee last October.

Notably, Jimin and Jung Kook both achieved the above achievements after only 1 year of solo music activities, in parallel with the band  BTS .

And Jimin and Jung Kook’s record is only surpassed by… BTS, so far, the famous K-pop band has accumulated 12 leading songs on this chart – the most worldwide.
