The 42-year-old tennis superstar turned heads on the red carpet with her hip-hugging black and red gown.

The sports icon was invited to the ceremony to introduce Best Picture contender A Star Is Born.

Early in the evening it lost the Best Cinematography award to Roma’s Alfonso Cuarón, who also directed the Mexican feature. It also missed out on Best Adapated Screenplay to Spike Lee for BlacKkKlansman.

Serena posted another Instagram story on the way to the Dolby Theatre in which she showed off her fancy look.

‘So I’m on my way to the Oscars, like I said,’ she began. ‘I have the best husband, he’s at home working hard, with the baby, and he’s baby sitting. He could be here with me, but he’s like, ‘Nope, I’ll be with my daughter.’ I’m so lucky.’

Mid-ceremony, her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian posted a sweet black and white picture of the star athlete getting ready for the awards with her young daughter, one-year-old Alexis.
