Lewis Hamilton shares ‘important part’ of new F1 movie involving Brad Pitt

Lewis Hamilton believes that the upcoming release can make a big impact on F1.

Lewis Hamilton has revealed that Las Vegas will play an ‘important part’ in an F1 film starring Brad Pitt set to be released in 2025. The seven-time world champion also talked up the possibility of building on what’s already a booming American fanbase, with three Grands Prix now held stateside every season.

Hamilton is involved in the highly-anticipated motion picture as a producer. Hollywood stars such as Damson Idris, Javier Bardem and Tobias Menzies are set to appear on screen alongside Pitt, with the release pencilled in for the year after next.

Mercedes star Hamilton predicts that the movie will have a positive impact on F1’s fanbase, and he revealed that Las Vegas – which was added to the calendar only this year – will have an important part to play.

“The movie is a huge step in that direction of broadening the horizon,” said the 38-year-old. “I think that’s really part of the new leadership, with the great work that Stefano [Domenicali] and Greg [Maffei] are doing in being open to trying new things.

“The fact that we’re allowed to do this movie, and have the concessions in terms of allowing an extra team being on track and filming with these film stars is… it’s never been done before. There [was] a huge spotlight on Vegas, which will play an important part in our movie also. We’re really just working as hard as we can to make sure that it’s a true reflection of this legendary sport. Both the old and the new.”

“I always felt that we needed more than one race [in the United States],” he continued. “The complaint was always people having to get up at 4am or 5am or something, in the middle of the night to watch a Grand Prix. So, it’s really difficult to get into it.

“Then also, it’s only coming to the country once a year, so I think this is really enabling it to be something with a buzz that’s continuing. But we do have to continue to grow, and I think the movie particularly is going to help do that.

“It is the only truly international or global sport, and so we need to educate more and more people in it. There are still many people out there we’ve got to get to catch the bug, and there’s plenty of growing to do.”
