Jason Momoa sends congratulations to Aquaman co-star Amber Heard after she welcomes daughter Ooonagh

Jason Momoa has publicly congratulated his Aquaman co-star Amber Heard on the birth of her daughter Oonagh.

She revealed this Thursday on her Instagram that she has welcomed her first child via surrogate, five years after her nasty split from Johnny Depp.

In the comments section Momoa, 41, who himself is a father of two, wrote on Friday: ‘congratulations’ and added a heart emoji.

Warm words: Jason Momoa has publicly congratulated his Aquaman co-star Amber Heard on the birth of her daughter Oonagh

‘Congratlations’: She revealed this Thursday on her Instagram that she has welcomed her first child via surrogate, five years after her nasty split from Johnny Depp

Momoa and his wife Lisa Bonet, 53, have two children together – a 13-year-old daughter called Lola and a 12-year-old son called Nakoa-Wolf.

Heard, 35, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a snap of herself cradling her daughter, whose full name is Oonagh Paige Heard, and born on April 8, 2021.

She wrote a lengthy caption about wanting to have a child under her own conditions: ‘I’m so excited to share this news with you. Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms.’

Bi𝑠e𝑥ual Amber’s most recent relationship was with cinematographer Bianca Butti whom she began dating in January 2020 and were seen together as recently as February 2021. It’s not known if they are still together.

Side by side: Momoa and Heard are pictured together in the first Aquaman film in 2018 and she has confirmed she will be back for the sequel

The moniker, (also spelled Una and Oona) is pronounced oo-nuh. It is a girl’s name of Irish origin meaning ‘lamb’.

The middle name of Paige appears to be a tribute to her late mother Paige Heard, who died in May 2020.

A sources close to Heard claim that she welcomed the child via surrogate after being told that she would never being able to carry her own baby, according to Page Six on Thursday.

The revelation comes five years after filing from divorce from actor Johnny Depp, 58, as the two have recently been embroiled in bitter court battles.

Announcing her baby news, Amber discussed her personal life in the Instagram caption: ‘A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this.’

Amber stressed the importance of women being able to become parents regardless of marital status.

She wrote: ‘I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way

‘I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib.’

She concluded the post by saying: ‘She’s the beginning of the rest of my life.’

The insider for Page Six explained that it was important for Amber to be transparent when it comes to the birth of her child.

The source said: ‘The most important thing for Amber is that she’s open about Oonagh’s birth.

‘There are so many women who feel they can’t talk about their fertility and are worried and embarrassed; Amber wants them to feel supported and realize that there are a multitude of ways to have a baby even if you have fertility issues.’

Sentimental: Oonagh’s middle name Paige appears to be a tribute to Amber’s late mother Paige Heard, who died in May 2020. Amber shared her heartache over her mother’s death in an Instagram post at the time

The insider who knows Amber said that the star is thankful for the woman who was her surrogate and helped her fulfill her goal of being a mother.

The source explained: ‘Oonagh is absolutely gorgeous, and Amber is besotted. She always knew that she wanted to be a mom, and this is her greatest wish come true. She’s so grateful to the wonderful woman who helped bring Oonagh into her life.’

Amber has been in London in recent weeks, however it is not know where Oonagh was born.

Last week, the blonde beauty shared a snap of herself posing on a street in the British capital and a slew of gym pictures.

It is thought that Amber could be in the UK ahead of the Aquaman sequel starting filming. MailOnline contacted the actress’ representatives for comment at the time.

It was reported in mid-March by Discussing Film that the sequel was eyeing a June production start in the U.K., although that hasn’t been confirmed.

And although Amber only made the revelation on Thursday, a day after her child was born she took to Instagram to share a video of herself on the beach while expressing her gratitude to all of her well-wishers on April 9, 2021.

‘I just wanna say thank you so much to all of my online supporters and my fans,’ said the Aquaman star while on a beach before apologizing ‘for the death threats.’

She has been locked in a years-long feud with her ex-husband Depp in which they have denied each other’s explosive allegations of domestic violence.

In 2018 she claimed to have received death threats and lost work after accusing Depp of abuse and in November 2020 his fans viciously trolled her on Twitter.

In November, a UK judge ruled against Depp’s suit against an English publication for calling him a ‘wife-beater,’ citing that the accusations Heard made – that have negatively impacted the actor’s career – were ‘substantially true’.

Keeping mum! On the day after the child was born – April 9, 2021 – Amber was beaming with delight as she shared a video of herself on the beach, but held out sharing her news until today

Months later in March, Depp was refused permission to bring an appeal against a damning High Court ruling that he assaulted his ex-wife with his lawyers claiming that he ‘looked forward to presenting the irrefutable truth’ to a US libel court.

Depp’s $50m (£35m) US libel case against Heard – which will also be extremely costly – was recently delayed until April 2022.

The pair met on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary in which they both starred and began dating in 2012 before marrying in February 2015.

Their divorce was finalized in January 2017 with Amber pledging to donated the $7 million settlement she received to charity.

Across the pond: Amber shared candid snaps of herself on a London street to Instagram last Monday – after it was reported the highly-anticipated Aquaman sequel would film in the UK
