Kylie Jenner recently gave fans a glimpse into her elaborate Christmas decorations. The mom-of-two has become known over the years for going all-out for the holidays, including trees that touch the ceiling and dozens of sparkling décor throughout her mansion.
While Kylie’s recent post may have seemed innocent enough, it’s sparked backlash from the public, as eagle-eyed fans noticed the makeup mogul included a controversial decoration.

In a photo posted to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, December 14, the Kylie Cosmetics founder showed off her unique Christmas tree. She was apparently opting for a minimalist and modern design, as Kylie’s tree had skinny, spare branches – a contrast to the full trees usually used during the holidays.
While the tree itself may have been simplistic, the decorations compensated for it. Kylie added a bunch of silver tinsel to every branch in addition to a red garland that added a pop of color to the display.
Though there’s no denying the tree was expertly decorated, some fans took issue with the fact that Kylie included tinsel, especially given she has two young kids in the household (Kylie shares 6-year old daughter Stormi and 1-year old son Aire with her ex Travis Scott).

Tinsel has been deemed controversial due to its potential hazards, as its thin, metallic strands can pose a choking risk for pets and small children. It’s recommended parents with young kids avoid anything that’s a potential choking hazard, even certain ornaments. At the very least, it’s recommended to keep such Christmas décor out of arm’s reach (like higher up on the tree).
Moreover, some traditional tinsels contain lead, raising concerns about environmental and health risks associated with its production and disposal.
The Kardashian-Jenners Won’t Do A Christmas Card This Year
For now, Kylie hasn’t responded to the concern her Christmas tree has caused. But that’s not the only holiday drama that Kardashian-Jenner family is facing. The reality stars recently revealed they won’t be doing an annual Christmas card this year.
For years, fans look forward to seeing the family get glamorous and pose for a huge holiday photo. But the cards have become less over-the-top throughout the years, and now it appears they may be officially over for good.
Khloe Kardashian shared the news on Snapchat, explaining it’s become too difficult to coordinate with everyone’s schedules, considering how much the family has expanded in size over the years.
“As our family grew it got a little trickier (anyone with kids knows how impossible it is to get multiple kids to look at the camera lol),” Khloe, who has two kids of her own, explained in the post. “And so, we decided to leave that tradition in the past for now, but I’m all about taking as many photos as we can.”
There’s been speculation that Kim and Kourtney Kardashian’s ongoing feud (including the family’s reported uneasiness with Kourtney’s husband Travis Barker) may have played a part in their decision to forgot the annual Christmas card.
