Despite some conflicting rumours in recent times, Real Madrid remain the most likely destination for Kylian Mbappe when his contract expires next summer. Of course, Liverpool have been linked with the French World Cup winner as well but it looks like Los Blancos have been handed a boost in that regard.
Mbappe’s potential move to Real Madrid has been the talking point of every transfer window for a few years now. Yet the deal has not materialised into reality as the Paris Saint-Germain superstar has remained in the French capital.
Last year the 24-year-old signed a new deal with PSG. But it was not a long-term one and is set to run out next summer.
Earlier this summer, Mbappe was left out of PSG’s pre-season tour as his exit seemed inevitable. There were suggestions that the club wanted him to extend his contract or leave. But somewhere down the line, there was clearly a change in the thought process because he has been back playing for the French giants despite signing no extension.
Liverpool hand Mbappe boost to Real Madrid
As tweeted out by Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool is not pushing for Mbappe. Real Madrid is still the most realistic destination for him.
This solidifies Real Madrid as the most likely destination for the World Cup winner. As it stands Mbappe’s contract expires next summer but of course, he could still agree a short or long-term extension with PSG if he wanted.
PSG on the other hand appear to be relaxed about the developments. That is in contrast to what the situation looked like in the summer.
With Mbappe still not renewing his contract with PSG, next summer might be when the move to Real Madrid finally materialises. The Frenchman will be free to discuss terms with other clubs from January.
