Unexpected Gen V Cameo Unveils Larger Storyline in ‘The Boys’ Season 4

The Gen V season 1 finale features a major cameo that could completely change the course of The Boys, proving that the story will be massive.

The Gen V season 1 finale features a major surprise cameo, proving that the real story of The Boys season 4 is much bigger than we realized. The Boys season 4 has been incredibly anticipated by fans of the series, with it setting itself up to be even more packed full of laughs, gore, and lore than any of its predecessors.

While season 3 gave an idea of where the story would go in The Boys season 4, Gen V has proven that there is a much bigger picture in the world of the franchise, something supported by the finale’s major cameo.

Gen V is finally here, with the highly-anticipated spinoff of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys finally concluding its first season. Gen V looks at the world of The Boys from a new angle, with the series this time focusing on a supe college known as Godolkin Univeristy. The show follows Marie Moreau, a blood-bending supe who gets the opportunity to attend the prestigious Vought-run university. Upon her arrival, however, Marie soon unearths a massive conspiracy, with everything coming to a head in the season 1 finale. Tons of huge reveals occur in the finale, but this major cameo was easily the biggest one.

Homelander’s Gen V Cameo Shows He’s Much Darker After The Boys S3

The Gen V season 1 finale features a cameo from Homelander, with the scene showing that he is much darker after The Boys season 3. In the finale, Ashley calls Homelander to Godolkin University so that he can take down some rogue supes and their supe supremacist leaders, Cate and Sam. However, Homelander takes their side, with him instead knocking out Marie and her friends and pinning the blame on them. While Homelander has tried to keep his far-right ideology hidden in previous seasons, he is pretty blatant about it in Gen V, with him showing his true colors to the world of Godolkin University.

Homelander does kill a protestor at the end of season 3, but it seems to be an emotional response. His attempt to kill Marie in Gen V, however, is entirely intentional, showing that he has no problem killing people of opposing political ideologies. Gen V also proves that Vought has completely lost control of Homelander, as he sides with the very supes that Ashley recruited him to kill. Homelander has clearly evolved into a much darker and more evil figure since the conclusion of The Boys season 3, with Gen V making his potential story in The Boys season 4 all the scarier.

Gen V’s Ending Teases Homelander’s Story For The Boys Season 4

Gen V‘s ending sets up Homelander’s story for The Boys season 4 in a big way, showing the roads he might take in the upcoming season. Homelander is all-in on far-right supe politics, with him explicitly being an authoritarian supe supremacist and ultra-nationalist. Homelander has always been a figure of the right, but Gen V proves that he is an actual fascist who cares nothing for human life. Homelander wants to start a race war between supes and humans, a goal that he will likely continue in The Boys season 4.

Homelander Has Pushed Gen V’s Main Heroes Toward Joining The Boys

Homelander’s cameo also sets up The Boys season 4 in a big way by pushing Gen V‘s main heroes toward joining the show. Cate and Sam will undoubtedly continue their villainous arc in the upcoming season, with it even being teased that they will join The Seven. However, it seems likely that Marie, Andre, Jordan, and Emma will also join the fight on the side of the Boys, as they now have a bone to pick with Homelander. Although Godolkin’s conflict was mostly self-contained, Homelander’s involvement has made it a much bigger deal, with the Gen V and The Boys groups possibly crossing over in season 4.
