A Montana Mountain Retreat

The horizontal profile of this log home allows views from many rooms, as well as from the stone patio. Large-diameter logs form the pergola, which supports a porch swing in front of the outdoor fireplace. Ledge-stone chimneys and Port Orford cedar shakes top off the home.

Hefty furniture with plush upholstery bolsters the scale of the living room, which soars 27 feet to the ceiling. Arched timber trusses amplify the overhead space, and big windows frame the view.

The roomy dining room is surrounded by windows on three sides to enhance the view. Perimeter seating fills the space, while the 200-year-old oak floors ground it.
