As soon as I spot her, I mentally remind myself to let her know not to touch me. She approaches me, briefly hugs me, then steps back and says, “Mommy, I’ll be back soon. I have a great idea.” Nala leaves when she realizes that Davis is getting more fatherly and less serious. He remains seated on the floor but covers his face with his hand to see how Nala will react upon her return. Davis jokes about the absurdity of the situation, laughing at himself while admitting, “I’m trying to play the role right now.”
