His contract is set to expire this summer, and it this stage there is reportedly no intention on offering him a new deal.

This status has not always reflected his importance to the side in his veteran years, with his teammates not being afraid to share just how crucial he has been for them.

Conor Gallagher has been full of praise for the Brazilian, describing him as ‘massive’ earlier this season.

It still feels more likely at this stage that Silva’s time at Stamford Bridge is coming to an end, with him potentially on the move back to his home country.

The fact that he will turn 40 in the warmup weeks if next season suggests that surely any role he is going to play at the club is going to be off the pitch.

Chelsea looking forward to Wesley Fofana return

It has been stated that the Blues are interested in strengthening at the back in the upcoming transfer window, and they may be able to finally welcome back a long-time absentee.

Wesley Fofana has not played a game for the Blues this season, however it is believed that he will be fit and available for the upcoming pre-season campaign in an attempt to recover fully.
