Chelsea now leading the race to sign £60m Premier League midfielder this summer

Reports have claimed that Chelsea are now the side leading the race to try and sign one midfielder this summer.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Blues are the side best poised to make an offer for him, despite the fact his club want at least £60m for him.

Chelsea are reportedly set to be in the market again in a strong way this summer, providing the fact that they are able to shift on a number of players in their own first team.

Chelsea want a new midfielder

Central midfield is reportedly a position they are looking to strengthen this summer, with it now being claimed that they are in for a player they faced very recently in the Premier League.

Amadou Onana was on display at Stamford Bridge on Monday, with him being part of an Everton side that were heavily defeated by the Blues.

While he was part of a midfield who were absolutely dominated by the likes of Conor Gallagher and Moises Caicedo, it does not seem to have put them off interest in signing him.

Chelsea in pole position to sign Amadou Onana

It has been reported that they are the side in pole position to sign the Belgium international, with there being a realistic world where Everton need to sell him in order to balance their own books.

Any incomings at Stamford Bridge are likely to have to be balanced out by some key players leaving the club, and one of those could well be in the midfield position.

Gallagher is one of the players who the owners are reportedly open to selling in order to bring in profit this summer, with him being a homegrown star.

However, he has played a crucial role for Mauricio Pochettino this season, and it would be a statement of their lack of backing in the Argentine if he is sold at the end of the season.
