‘Exceptional’ Chelsea player set to miss FA Cup semi-final vs Manchester City with injury

Reports have shared one key Chelsea player is set to miss out on the huge FA Cup semi-final game he was aiming to be fit for at the weekend.

According to the Mail Online, one of their top players will not be available, leaving a big decision to be made for Mauricio Pochettino at the weekend.

The boss will likely have had some answers to who should start the semi-final against Manchester City last night after they took on Everton in the Premier League.

Cole Palmer stars for Chelsea

Cole Palmer was at his best yet again, this time scoring four goals on a superb night at Stamford Bridge for the hosts.

The 6-0 win saw them keep a clean sheet for the first time since January, and therefore may have seen some players feature at the back who he will want in his side again.

One player who was not present was Levi Colwill, with him missing a number of weeks now off the back of an injury.

It was reported that he was targeting a comeback for the semi-final at Wembley. However, it also emerged that he could have been ahead of schedule.

Despite that, it has now been claimed that he is set to miss the City clash, which is a real shame when taking into consideration just how impressive he was against them in the Premier League earlier this year.

While his defensive skills are clearly an asset to him, his passing his also a real strength that pundits have noticed. Jamie Redknapp described it as ‘exceptional’.

The performances of Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah last night would suggest they have done enough to start if chosen.

Pochettino will also be hoping he can rely on Axel Disasi to return from his own injury issue to be available again for him on Saturday.
