Real About His Uncertain Future With The Warriors, Klay Thompson

As the Warriors prepare for a fight to save their season, the future of Klay Thompsom looms on the horizon like a dark cloud over the franchise. Ahead of a potential season-ending play-in game on Tuesday, he took a minute to look ahead to the summer to come and admitted that, regardless of how it ends, he’ll feel proud of what he accomplished here.

“Had so much success here not gonna let whatever happens in the future make me salty about what I’ve been able to accomplish in a Warriors uniform,” said Thompson via KNBR.

After a decade with the Warriors, the future hangs in the balance for Klay Thompson, who has never known another situation besides Dub Nation. As a 4x champion, 5x All-Star, and 2x All-NBA player, Thompsom accomplished much with the Warriors and his career is a lock for the Hall of Fame.

With a place alongside Stephen Curry in the greatest dynasty of the modern era, Thompson was integral to those championship runs and it’s his skills in the backcourt that helped give them their two-way identity.

Even after he got hurt in the 2019 Finals, the Warriors took care of Thompson and waited patiently as he returned to full strength. But now, with Thompson as a shell of himself and the Warriors weakened, his place on the team is no longer guaranteed and his future has never been so uncertain.

Is This The End of the Golden Warriors Dynasty?

At 46-36, the Warriors finished 10th in the standings this season, barely enough to secure a spot in the play-in tournament. Between Draymond’s suspension, the disappearance of Andrew Wiggins, and Klay’s steep decline, the Warriors have never looked so vulnerable and they are coming into this post-season with more questions than answers.

Even if they do win the next two games and advance to the first round, what hope do they have against a team like the Oklahoma City Thunder, who lead the West with 57 wins?

But even as bleak as the path ahead looks, head coach Steve Kerr has not lost faith and he still believes the Warriors have a chance to make some noise despite being 10th in the standings.

“The way the league is right now, there’s so little difference between the 1-seed and the 10-seed,” said Kerr via FOX Sports. “If we can find our way in, I think we have a chance.”

No matter how the season plays out, time is not on the Warriors’ side and they only have so long before their title window slams shut for the foreseeable future. With Stephen Curry now at 36 years old, he may only have a few years left at this level of play. Spnif the Warriors don’t turn this around soon, we could see a major overhail take place. At the very least, an early exit could force some tough decisions this summer that will have the entire league shaken.
