Kylie Jenner grew up in a very fragrant home. Certainly you can imagine. Jenner grew up with her four older sisters, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Kendall, and her mom, Kris—all documented beauty lovers through years of their reality television show.

“Growing up, my mom had the most beautiful array of fragrances,” Jenner tells Vogue exclusively. “She gravitated toward one specifically, which was very floral. That’s a core fragrance memory for me, I can smell it now.”

That precious scent memory of mom Kris was “was definitely a part of the inspiration” for Jenner’s first fragrance for Kylie Cosmetics, out today. Named Cosmic, the eau de parfum is a blend of star jasmine, blood orange, golden amber, red peony, and vanilla musk (one of the world’s most popular fragrance notes). It took two years and more than 15 rounds before the blend was just right.

Reflecting back, the mom of two feels like now is the perfect time to launch her first solo fragrance (she previously collaborated with sister Kim’s KKW Fragrance brand for a scent).

“At other points in my life, fragrance was just something fun for me to do,” she says. “Now, it’s part of my identity.”
