According to Soompi, at around 6:00 p.m. on February 29, the MV for Jennie’s (Blackpink) debut solo song, MV “Solo”, recorded 1 billion views on YouTube. Thus, the MV “Solo” took 5 years. , 3 months and 17 days, from its release on November 12, 2018, to reach this important milestone.
Jennie became the first female Kpop solo artist in history to have a MV reach 1 billion views. As a group, Blackpink currently has 5 MVs with over 1 billion views, of which “DDU-DU DDU-DU” has even surpassed 2 billion views.
Previously, PSY was the only Kpop solo artist to have MVs exceeding 1 billion views, which were the MV “Gangnam Style” with 5 billion views and the MV “Gentleman” with 1.6 billion views.
At the end of last year, after 7 years together, Jennie and all 3 Blackpink members decided not to renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment. Meanwhile, group activities are still managed by YG.
In December 2023, Jennie announced the establishment of her own company ODD ATELIER (abbreviated as OA). The female idol is promoting personal activities, such as participating in variety shows, fashion activities, advertising, and also promises to release a solo album soon in the future.
