Simon Jordan has been on TalkSport this morning giving his thoughts on Mauricio Pochettino’s body language and press conferences.

He says the Chelsea manager looks too relaxed, and that that reflects a lack of urgency from the coach.

It’s something we’ve noticed too. Pochettino has been very measured all season, only cracking his smooth exterior a couple of times when bad performances have really got to him.

“Every time I see and hear Mauricio Pochettino do a press conference, he seems to be very relaxed,” Jordan commented.

“So relaxed, he’s almost falling over. There doesn’t seem to be any urgency.”

It’s a tough one to judge. On the one hand we sympathise with what Jordan is saying. A relaxed attitude from the manager feels frustrating because it seems to reflect a relaxed attitude behind the scenes. Angry fans don’t want to see that, they want to see seriousness and grit. Is it irrational? Probably. But a large part of being a football fan is irrational.

Ultimately, it’s all moot though. What will placate fans is good results, and not much else. How he behaves in the press conferences is only an issue if we’re losing.
