Lakers superstar LeBron James claims his 19-year-old son and college freshman, Bronny, ‘could play for us right now’ after LA suffers 10th loss in 13 games in 127-113 defeat to Grizzlies.

LeBron James boldly claimed that his son, Bronny, could easily play for the Los Angeles Lakers amid the team’s recent woes.

The Lakers have fallen a long way since winning the NBA‘s inaugural In-Season Tournament on December 9, winning just three of their last 13 games to leave them 11th in the Western Conference.

And LA’s most recent loss – their 10th in 13 games – against the Grizzlies on Friday night appeared to tip a frustrated James over the edge.

The NBA’s all-time leading point scorer suggested the Lakers had hit such a low point that they could recruit his 19-year-old son Bronny, who is only a freshman at USC.

‘He could play for us right now. Easy. EASY,’ he said of the guard, who has played just seven games for the Trojans, via The New York Post.

19-year-old Bronny is averaging 6.7 points in his freshman season with the USC Trojans

Bronny made his debut for USC on December 10 against Long Beach State after being medically cleared to return to the court following a cardiac arrest he suffered during a training session in July.

In seven games, Bronny is averaging just 6.7 points, 1.6 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 17.3 minutes.

After losing 127-113 at home to the Grizzlies Friday and bringing their record to a disappointing 17-19 mark, James further let his frustration be known.

‘I’m not thinking that far back in the past,’ LeBron said after the game. ‘It was just two games. We suck right now.’

While the Lakers rallied to win the NBA’s In-Season Tournament last month, the team has spiraled since then.

And James doesn’t believe that the team’s triumph in Las Vegas necessarily means they are contenders to lift the NBA championship this summer.

‘That was just two games, though,’ James said. ‘That was a small sample. Everybody is getting so cracked up about Vegas, keep bringing up Vegas. It was two games. We took care of that business … but that was really just two games.’

Bronn made his college basketball debut in December, five months on from his cardiac arrest

Lakers coach Darvin Ham is seen on the sideline during the Lakers’ loss to the Grizzlies

‘This is the NBA, man,’ Ham said. ‘This is a marathon. You have to look at the totality of the picture. I’m tired of people living and dying with every single game we play. It’s ludicrous, actually.

‘It’s like, ‘Come on, man. This is a marathon.’ We hit a tough stretch. It’s the same team. We played some high-level games a little while ago, and we’ve just got to get back to that. We’ve got to keep the fight, though. We cannot lose our fight.’

The Athletic previously reported that there was a ‘deepening disconnect‘ between Ham and the locker room, citing six unnamed sources.

The Lakers finished seventh in the Western Conference last season before making a run to the Western Conference finals.
