The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that tight end Travis Kelce will not be playing in the Week 18 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Travis Kelce currently holds the NFL record for most consecutive and most overall seasons with 1,000 yards receiving by a tight end with a total of seven. For the 2023 season, he has been averaging 65.6 yards per game.
The Kansas City Chiefs, who currently have a 10-6 record, have clinched a playoff berth, but they still have one more game to play in the regular NFL season.
However, Travis Kelce has been ruled out for Sunday’s game, despite not being hurt and having no known injuries, leaving fans to wonder why he is not playing on Sunday, January 7.

The team clinched a playoff berth, so it looks like he decided not to risk two players in a game that would not alter the stats. If he starts Mahomes and Kelce, and one of them gets injured during the game, that means it could hurt their playoff run, so it looks like he felt it was better to play it safe than sorry.
It is unclear if Kelce’s girlfriend, pop icon Taylor Swift will still attend the Week 18 game in Los Angeles; however, she was spotted having a quiet dinner with Mahomes’s wife, Brittany, last night, so it is a possibility that the ‘Bad Blood’ singer still make an appearance at the NFL game.
