‘I’ve had to fight for everything’ Salma Hayek told she’d ‘NEVER make it as an actress’: SALMA HAYEK was once branded a “spoiled brat” and told she would “never” have a career in acting, something she says gave her the conviction to carry on.
The Hollywood actress claims she considered the negative remarks a challenge, and now her CV boasts the likes of Oscar-winning Frida, Desperado and Dogma.
Speaking to the July issue of Red, the 49-year-old opened up about ignoring the haters, her “miracle” daughter and keeping the romance alive with husband François-Henri Pinault.
Salma, who is currently promoting her new film Tale of Tales – out June 17 – commented: “In Mexico they said, ‘You have no talent, you’re a spoiled brat, you’ll never make it as an actress here.’ I ended up doing telenovelas and then went to the US because I wanted to do films.”
The brunette beauty continued: “They said, ‘You’re Latina, you’re very limited, the parts don’t exist, you’ll never make it as an actress here.’ I thought, what an interesting challenge. This is wrong. It must be changed.

Salma says she’s had to fight for everything she has
“I had conviction because I was completely clear that this was what I had to do. I’ve had to fight very hard for everything I have.”
Salma went on to discuss her little girl, Valentina, eight, and her three step-children, who are a “huge blessing”.
On becoming a mother, the starlet, who is a keen diver, revealed: “In Tale of Tales, I identified with my character’s desperate desire to have a child. I’ve had that yearning, that longing, and that pain…
“I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to. My body, as a miracle, had one.”

Salma, who wed François-Henri, 54, back in 2009, admitted that her marriage was her “biggest accomplishment” to date.
“Sex is not the key to a happy marriage, but it’s a side effect. Although not every day! If it’s every day then it loses its charm. It’s so important to maintain your chemistry,” the star said.
She also stated: “You have to continue to laugh, continue to explore, continue to have fun with each other, continue to have romance.”
