The viral Matrix: Renegades poster for 2024 isn’t official. It is fan-made and The Matrix 5 is not releasing in 2024.
Fan-made Matrix 5 Poster
The aforementioned poster of a fifth film titled The Matrix: Renegades has been making rounds across social media. The poster features Keanu Reeves as Neo and teases the film’s arrival in December 2024. It also comes with the following synopsis:
“Get ready for a mind-bending journey in ‘The Matrix Renegades,’ the highly anticipated sequel from Warner Bros Discovery. Starring Keanu Reeves, this December 2024 blockbuster thrusts Neo and Trinity into a gripping battle as they rewrite the Matrix, seizing control from the machines. Brace yourself for a suspenseful ride that explores new dimensions of reality after the events of ‘Matrix Resurrections.’”
But for all fans wishing for it to be real, it unfortunately isn’t. Warner Bros. Discovery hasn’t officially greenlit The Matrix 5 at the time of publishing.
Is Keanu Reeves returning for The Matrix 5?
While Keanu Reeves did say that he was open to another Matrix outing in 2021, he isn’t confirmed to return for it yet.
Back in December 2021, Keanu Reeves told Fandom that he’d be back if Lana Wachowski were to be onboard for another Matrix film. He said:
“I mean, if she wanted to do another story and wanted to include me I would be honored and grateful. And I’d like to see what happens to Trinity and Neo – and the world.”
However, Lana Wachowski told Collider that she doesn’t have another sequel in mind. Furthermore, The Matrix: Resurrections also failed at the box office making just $159 million worldwide against a reported budget of $190 million. So, the chances for another Matrix movie are quite unlikely for now.
