Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have kept the news of the birth of their second son hidden, a decision one PR expert claims is to protect their newborn baby from “excessive attention”
Rihanna has welcomed her second baby into the world with boyfriend A$AP Rocky this month. But as the new parents have been radio silent since the news broke, a PR expert says the celeb parents might be purposefully protecting their child from “excessive attention.”
The Diamonds singer first revealed she was pregnant with her second baby during her iconic Super Bowl half-time show in February. Rihanna and A$AP later announced the exciting news of their growing family after the performance. And now, insiders have revealed the singer secretly gave birth on August 3
Mayah Riaz, a PR & Personal Branding Expert, revealed why the famous couple might be keeping their baby news private. Mayah told The Mirror: “It’s no surprise to me that Rihanna has chosen to keep the birthday of her child away from the press/public.”
Mayah explained there are many reasons why celebs choose to not announce the birth of their child, one being that they want to keep the news private as they share so much of themselves with the outside world. She said: “For celebrities, the birth of their child(ren) is a deeply intimate and personal experience which is away from their public life. This is why they would want to keep it within their inner circle.”

Keeping in tradition, the parents have remained silent after their second son’s birth, as they did with their first child. Rihanna after the birth of RZA didn’t make the announcement until she released a full topless maternity shoot days after the newborns first baby snaps.
Mayah explained because the birth of a child is such a huge moment in any parent’s lives, the couple probably wants to spend time alone bonding with their new baby. She said: “Rather than sharing the news on social media, they may feel it is better to prioritise their time and energy on the bonding period. This avoids distraction and pressure, which can come from public scrutiny.”

Mayah believes that the decision to keep the news of the birth private could also be for the child’s protection. She said: “An issue which celebrities face, which most ordinary people don’t is that of security. Celebrities face a higher risk of intrusion and potential harm from paparazzi and in some cases overzealous fans,” the expert continued: “Keeping the birth of their child away from the public eye helps protect their security and reduces unwanted attention or invasion.”
Mayah explained that Rihanna and A$AP privacy might also be to try and control their own narrative. She said: “If they choose to share the announcement, they can do this officially and share the photos which they want on their own terms. This sense of autonomy upon their personal lives is a huge consideration for them.”
Since the news broke, excited fans have tried to predict the name of the iconic pair’s baby with speculation that the name begins with the letter R to match with their firstborn son. Their first son was named RZA as a tribute to the producer and rapper RZA, who is the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan.
