LeBron James visits his new museum in Akron and showcases rare memorabilia related to Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant.

Both GOATs were represented in the new LeBron James Museum

The LeBron James Family Foundation recently opened the doors to the LeBron James Museum in Akron, with the aim of showcasing the life and career of the legendary NBA star, who is still setting records.

The museum includes several pieces of memorabilia that James had in his childhood apartment with his mom, none more rare than a photo of young LeBron with Michael Jordan.

James was in town for the museum opening when the Los Angeles Lakers played his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. As part of the tribute honoring his record for scoring the most career points in NBA history, James gave his Lakers teammates a personal walkthrough of the museum.

What can you see at the LeBron James Museum?

The museum provides fans with a chance to trace LeBron James’s journey, starting from his early years with the Cleveland Cavaliers to his stints with the Miami Heat, and the championships achieved in MiamiCleveland, and LA.

Named LeBron James’s Home Court, the museum is situated in the athlete’s hometown. It features various attractions, including a replica of his childhood apartment in Akron’s Spring Hill neighborhood. Additionally, visitors can explore memorabilia such as his McDonald’s All-American high school jersey and the iconic all-white suit worn during the 2003 draft.

Additionally, the museum highlights James’s philanthropic pursuits off the court, like the 2018 launch of his education program, I PROMISE. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the foundation, with the funds to be distributed to students, parents, educators, and family members involved in I PROMISE.

Michael Jordan photo featured in LeBron museum

One of the coolest displays shown in the video of the tour posted by the Lakers was a photograph of young LeBron James with Michael Jordan. Encased in a black frame, the flick clearly means a lot to James, who posed with the Chicago Bulls icon while wearing a Jordan brand headband. James has famously worn the number 23 in honor of Jordan for 15 of his 21 NBA seasons.

In the short video sneak peek of the museum, eagle-eyed viewers can also spot countless other 1990s sports icons in the posters that James had in his Spring Hill apartment. He looked up to many of the Lakers NBA greats, such as Magic JohnsonKobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. There were also superstars from other sports represented in the museum’s re-creation, like Barry BondsDeion “Prime Time” Sanders and Barry Sanders.
