Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been competing against each other for as long as many people can remember and whilst the Portuguese no longer plies his trade in Spain, the pair continue to lock horns on and off the pitch.
The pair’s ascent to the top of their field came with wages to match, allowing them access to the sort of luxuries that many paupers can only dream of.
Evidence of this comes in the form of their private jets, with a recent ranking by English publication ‘The Sun’ of footballer’s private jets putting Messi’s in second place.
Messi’s Embraer Legacy
The Argentine star owns an Embraer Legacy that he uses to jet off on international duty and for familty trips. The plane is valued at €28.3m.
As is to be expected, the plane boast all sorts of on-board luxuries, including: a fully-equipped and spacious kitchen, a large bathroom and reclining leather seats. There are three different sections of the aircraft: a private area with two divan beds, an extra toilet and a meeting area. Between 12 and 14 people can travel on the jet at any one time.
Ronaldo’s Gulfstream G650
Perhaps unsurprisingly Ronaldo’s plane came in first in the ranking, with his Gulfstream G650 valued at €31.7m.
Ronaldo’s jet boasts more advanced technology than Messi’s, including the “Triplex Flight Managerment System”, a 3D meteorological radar, advanced flight controls and an emergency landing move.
According to Gulfstream, the plane “reduces fatigue thanks to the implementation of a system which replenishes 100 percent fresh air every two minutes.” The plane has a capacity of 18 people and can reach speeds of 981km/h
